The Presa Canario is classified as a working dog for the very reason of its inheritance,
as a catch or gripping dog, a companion, a gladiator and foremost as a guard dog. The most
important ingredient of this breed is their temperament, without which there is no Presa
Canario. There are examples where some accomplished levels of competive obedience and
agility, while others have earned their Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) certification. Some have
earned titles in competitive hog catching while others have become termperament certified
(TT) by passing a test for confidence, stability and defense. To truly exemplify the working
aspect of the Presa Canario, one should observe their skills guarding cattle or other farm
livestock.

These "Canary" dogs, as they are sometimes called, are powerful,
muscular, large-boned giants, who are both intelligent and athletic. The Presa is
strong but even-tempered, trustworthy, confident and predictable. This breed is
extremely loyal to its family/owners, being protective of their charges and domain.
Defensive and territorial by nature helps make the Presa a natural guardian along
with their intuitive ability to discriminate between the good and the bad guys. It
has been written: the Presa is a true man stopper.

Based on our experience, as one of the first and oldest breeders of Presa Canario dogs
in the United States, we can honestly say they are easy keepers. Athough there are some
known congenital deficienies within the breed, such as hip dysplasia and entrophia, Show
Stopper does provide assurance against these risks by offering a two year health guarantee
against any veterinarian certified congenital health defect. As a point of fact, Show Stopper
has only had to honor this their guarantee eighteen times out of five hundred+ puppies produced
during the past twelve years.

As an added benefit to owning a Show Stopper Presa, your puppy will be provided with TRIPLE registration.
First with the United Perro de Presa Canario Club (UPPCC), the parent breed club in the United
States, next with the American Kennel Club/Foundation Stock Service (AKC/FSS), and now with the
United Kennel Club (UKC).

Many of our dogs are proven/pointed show champions. Our pups are priced at $1,800 to $2,200 U.S.
This price reflects the rarity of the breed and the quality of our dogs. Show Stopper Presa's are
bred for type, size, soundness and characteristic temperament. Since litters are only available
two or three times a year, more often than not, there are times when none are available, especially
since many are reserved well in advance of whelping. Due to the rarity of the breed, the law of
supply and demand, and the quality of our dogs, we recommend to all serious buyers to reserve your
puppy selection early. We will accept and honor your request by date of receipt if you send a
refundable $200.00 good faith deposit, indicating puppy gender and color of choice.
